Our home from home environment uses natural resources with relaxing cosy spaces, for the children to feel safe and secure whilst learning in a fun and relaxing environment.
Older children will spend dedicated time in our Forest School, connecting them with nature through a variety of outdoor experiences.
Children eat healthy meals together in a warm and inviting central space.
Our tailored spaces and hybrid approach to education allow children to reach their full potential at their own pace and in their own time.
There’s plenty of time for exploring beyond the nursery too with visits in our minibus or pushchairs to our local park and the wider community.
Healthy snacks and delicious fresh food are cooked every day by our onsite chef using local and seasonal produce when we can. Children experience new flavours and look forward to favourite dishes while older children help in our kitchen.
Every day at Hermitage we encourage children to be inquisitive and imaginative in our inspiring learning environment and magical Forest School sessions. In doing so, they soon develop a real love of learning and a curious mind. We’re really proud of our close collaborative work with parents, carers, health visitors, area SENCo and speech and language therapists, making sure children’s individual needs are met and that their transition to school is a smooth and happy one.
Our experienced educators come with a wealth of early years learning insight. We know that every child is different with their own story to tell, so we make sure that your child learns in a way and at a pace that’s right for them.
We’d love you to see our exceptional learning environment for yourself, so please do come and say hello. We look forward to meeting you and your family soon.
She is so happy to go every morning and I have multiple observations a week, with all the wonderful activities she has been doing. Staff are attentive and you get a real home from home feeling. It’s lovely to see how they are supporting her development and reading her daily report at the end of the day of how she has been and what she has done. The Management cannot do enough for you and are always available for support and queries. I’d highly recommend Hermitage Nursery School. Myself and my partner are very pleased that our daughter has the very best foundations for her future learning at Hermitage Nursery School.
I get regular pictures of activities they have taken part in and updates on their learning and development. The setting and play equipment allow them to make the most of their individual interests and they have a great time with all the sensory play, including splashing in big puddles! I couldn't imagine sending them anywhere else.
They have a great system in place for communicating with parents, there are always exciting and educational activities on offer to the children. Both my children have always been very happy to attend.
I was able to view the nursery straight away and the facilities they have to offer are incredible. My son settled in extremely quickly and always enjoys going. He still attends and I will be applying for a position for my other children. Thank you to all the staff!
Babies at Hermitage explore opportunities for sensory discovery and gentle play that deepen their awareness of the world around them. Our team will help your baby learn and develop new skills too, from walking to talking. We also have our very own garden for this age group where they can enjoy outdoor play without the hustle and bustle of our older children.
As they grow, we introduce a routine with free play sessions, snack time and stimulating activities to ignite their imaginations. Independent feeding is encouraged during mealtimes and when tiredness takes over, they can recharge in our sleep area.
As their story begins to take shape, growing toddlers are given the time and space to be more independent, discover and learn. Children make friends, learn to play alongside each other and become more aware of the world around them. Our experienced educators encourage language development too, starting with simple sounds and building to sentences.
Toddlers enjoy activities across all areas of learning including mathematics, role play, technology and arts and crafts. Free play and adult-led sessions are introduced, offering more targeted support to meet their next steps in learning. Social skills and peer relationships are enhanced through group activities, and we’ll also help your child with toilet training, giving them lots of support and encouragement along the way.
As our pre-schoolers grow in confidence and ability, we prepare children for the learning journey ahead with a focus on phonics, numbers and social skills. They’ll also enjoy magical Forest School sessions and free play within a more structured environment. We encourage them to make their own choices, self-select at mealtimes and get involved in the day’s planning too.
Children spend their final years at Hermitage getting ready for primary school. By this time, they have made firm friendships and have experienced the learning environment in full throughout the year. They leave us as independent, curious and confident learners, ready for the next chapter of their own story.
Amidst all that learning, there’s plenty of time for play with games, creative activities and outdoor fun.
If children prefer some time away from the hustle and bustle, our quiet area is equipped with reading books and spaces to complete homework.
Whether it’s breakfast to start the day or a hearty meal after school, all of our nutritious food is freshly prepared daily.
