Our purpose-built log cabin was designed and built in Sweden, and offers a haven of cosiness and warmth inside its wooden walls and ceilings. We are inspired by the Hygge approach, creating stimulating environments that foster children’s development with a sense of security and well-being.
Outdoor learning time is prioritised for children of all ages, with several outdoor environments to explore. This includes our nursery garden, the grounds of St. Gilbert’s School, and an external woodland location. Children learn and grow in these environments by immersing themselves in the wonder of nature and activities including den-building, pond-dipping and storytelling around the firepit.
We’re located next door to St Gilbert’s School, offering children wonderful opportunities to engage in activities to prepare them for school such as PE, nativities, and sports days, fostering a smooth transition to primary school.
Our activities are varied and purposeful, helping children to develop key skills, relationships with peers and adults, and a sense of security, happiness, and confidence.
We pride ourselves on preparing fresh, nutritious and balanced meals on-site using local and seasonal produce. By encouraging children to explore various tastes, smells, and textures of food, we nurture their sense of curiosity and adventure, leading to an appreciation for diverse cuisines and a willingness to try new things.
At Ark Foundry Road, we believe that children flourish most in nurturing environments. Inside our purpose-built log cabin, our team focus on crafting such environments, blending homeliness with stimulation to support children's growth and development.
We prioritise clear, transparent communication with our families through regular updates, parent workshops, and family events. We are passionate about using our Storal Curriculum to foster a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. Our goal is not only to educate our children but also to empower them to grow into confident, compassionate, and capable individuals.

After looking around numerous nurseries in Stamford and Peterborough, the minute I walked into the Ark, I knew it was the one for my daughter.
The support for settling our son in to the nursery prior to his first day was great, making the whole experience stress-free and positive. Everybody is always welcoming and friendly. The food provided by the nursery sounds delicious and is always nutritious. Cannot recommend the nursery enough so far.
Our baby rooms are a home-from-home. The living room offers cosy corners, and doubles as a sensory space for relaxation, and the private bathroom and bedroom cater to babies’ every need. Our two large playrooms create space for floor activities, exploration and climbing. With direct access to a secure outdoor area, featuring the shelter of a gazebo, children can enjoy safe and stimulating outdoor experiences.
Our bright and airy toddler space provides children with freedom to explore, and an environment to be more independent, discover and learn. Complete with access to a number of outdoor play areas, including the use of our nursery garden and St Gilbert’s School grounds, our growing toddlers experience the benefit of outdoor play and learning.
With growing confidence and ability, the Storal Curriculum prepares our preschool children for primary school with a focus on literacy, early maths, and social skills. We achieve this through a versatile space which can be split into two separate rooms to allow for tailored learning in smaller groups.
Amidst all that learning, there’s plenty of time for play with games, creative activities and outdoor fun.
If children prefer some time away from the hustle and bustle, our quiet area is equipped with reading books and spaces to complete homework.
Whether it’s breakfast to start the day or a hearty meal after school, all of our nutritious food is freshly prepared daily.
