Inspired by the Scandinavian approach Hygge, your child will be immersed into a calm, safe and stimulating environment with an emphasis on their emotional wellbeing.
Our parent reception area is a dedicated space for families to feel welcome and relaxed. Parents are free to grab a coffee, hot chocolate or fruit from our snack bar before they start their day.
Our home-from-home environment uses natural resources that engage children and ignite their curiosity and wonder.
Our experienced educators teach children using the Early Years Foundation Stage framework alongside Hygge and our own Storal approach to curriculum. Our hybrid style allows children to reach their full potential at their own pace and in their own time
Healthy snacks and delicious fresh food are cooked every day by our onsite chef using seasonal and local produce when we can. Children experience new flavours and look forward to favourite dishes while older children help in our kitchen.
Every day at Edgbaston we encourage children to be inquisitive and imaginative in our wonderful learning environment. In doing so, they soon develop a real love of learning and a curious mind.
Our experienced team of educators come with a wealth of early years learning insight. We know that every child is different with their own story to tell, so we make sure that your child learns in a way and at a pace that’s right for them.
One of the things that makes our nursery school so special is that we are a Hygge-accredited setting. Hygge is a Danish approach to life that focuses on living in the moment and enjoying every minute. This means that during their time with us your child will immerse themselves in a cosy and comforting home-from-home atmosphere which produces feelings of contentment, togetherness, positivity and wellbeing.
We’d love you to experience the warmth and joy of our nursery school so do come along and say hello.
They have both enjoyed their time at Edgbaston immensely and have loved all of the staff that have been there to care for them. It has been a pleasure to watch them grow and learn so much while they have been at Edgbaston. We would wholeheartedly recommend Edgbaston to any parents looking for a nursery in the area.
I have seen how much she has learnt and developed under their guidance and was always at ease knowing that she was loved, safe and happy in their care. Art days and playing in the garden outside were her favourites! I also personally greatly appreciate all the help and support shown by the management. They are very welcoming, approachable and involved in the day-to-day running of the nursery.
The staff were very welcoming and informative and after having a few settling-in sessions, I chose to send my child there. I was not disappointed, 3 years later she is moving onto reception I believe having had the best start. The staff are amazing and my daughter has thrived, I cannot thank them all enough. There are so many wonderful things to say but not enough space! I would 100% recommend Edgbaston Nursery School and have already done so with friends and family.
Babies at Edgbaston enjoy many opportunities for sensory discovery and gentle play. Our skilled educators will care for your baby and help them learn and develop new skills, from walking to talking. There’s also our baby spa to support wellbeing, a storybook area and our treasure baskets, designed to encourage early object observations of texture, colour, shape and size.
After a busy morning of exploring and learning, there is time to recharge. We know how important and rejuvenating naps are, and make sure that when they need it, children can sleep.
As their story begins to take shape, growing toddlers are given the time and space to be more independent, discover and learn. Children make friends, learn to play alongside each other and become more aware of the world around them. Our experienced educators encourage language development too, starting with simple sounds and building to sentences.
Toddlers enjoy a wide scope of learning, from creative play and role play to our book area, sand and water activities. We also use sensory and heuristic play resources, designed to enhance skills such as hand-to-eye coordination, speech, concentration, listening and sensory development.
With growing confidence and ability, we prepare our preschool children for the learning journey ahead with a focus on phonics, numbers and social skills. We’ll also work with you to help your child with toilet training, giving them lots of support and encouragement along the way.
Outside, children take part in activities designed to improve coordination, control and movement skills as well as having time to play with friends.
Children spend their final year at Edgbaston preparing for primary school. By this time, they have made firm friendships and leave us as independent and confident learners, ready for the next chapter of their own story.
Amidst all that learning, there’s plenty of time for play with games, creative activities and outdoor fun.
If children prefer some time away from the hustle and bustle, our quiet area is equipped with reading books and spaces to complete homework.
Whether it’s breakfast to start the day or a hearty meal after school, all of our nutritious food is freshly prepared daily.
