Children spend dedicated time in garden areas, connecting with nature through a variety of outdoor experiences.
Our calming spaces provide an enhanced sensory experience, especially beneficially to children with learning difficulties.
Our home from home environment uses natural resources that engage children and ignite their curiosity and wonder.
Our hybrid approach allows children to reach their full potential at their own pace and in their own time.
Our large converted Victorian homes provide wonder and stimulation, allowing children to explore, grow and develop. There’s also plenty of space for calm and comfort, and children enjoy relaxing in our sensory room.
Healthy snacks and delicious fresh food are cooked every day by our onsite chef using local and seasonal produce when we can. Children enjoy experiencing new flavours and look forward to their favourite dishes.
At Hemsley House, children eat together in warm and inviting dining rooms. Older children also have opportunities to help with food preparation in our kitchen.
You’ll find us at two locations in Maidstone on Tonbridge Road and Terrace Road, only a 10-minute walk apart. These two converted Victorian houses have a warm and inviting home-from-home feel and their large gardens enable children to experience the joy of outdoor play.
Every day at Hemsley House we encourage children to be independent and imaginative in our wonderful learning environments. In doing so, they soon develop a real love of learning and a curious mind.
Our experienced team come with a wealth of early years learning insight. We know that every child is different with their own story to tell, so we make sure that your child learns in a way and at a pace that’s right for them.
We’d love you to visit us so please do get in touch and we’ll look forward to meeting you and your family.
We get reports of how he’s been through the day and what particular activities they’ve been doing through the day. I would highly recommend Hemsley House Nursery School.
Although my son cried at drop-off for the first week, they both transitioned really well into the nursery and it's clear to see that all of the staff are really engaged, caring and committed to the wellbeing and development of the kids. By week 2, my son was literally running through the door to get in. The staff go far out of their way to communicate what's going on at the nursery and to plan fun and engaging activities. They know the kids as individuals. Both the sites are fantastic - completely geared towards the kids' developmental abilities and interests. My son and daughter are always beaming when I come to pick them up. They've been there for 6 months now and I keep being more and more impressed with how they care and nurture the kids.
Staff at Hemsley House are caring and professional and always happy to work with us to help reinforce whatever we are doing at home. Our daughter enjoys the large adventure garden and the freshly prepared food (which was a major draw for us). We would happily recommend Hemsley House to other parents/carers.
Our baby rooms offer so many opportunities for sensory discovery and gentle play with a sensory room, large garden and arts and crafts activities. Our team will care for your baby and help them learn and develop new skills, from walking to talking.
After a busy morning of exploring and learning, babies recharge in our tranquil cot room. We know how important naps are, and make sure that when they need it, children can sleep.
We’ll always endeavour to match your baby’s home routine and when they’re ready, we’ll gradually introduce them to the routine they’ll follow in our pre-school.
As their story begins to take shape, and growing toddlers are given the time and space to be more independent, discover and learn. Children make friends, learn to play alongside each other and become more aware of the world around them. Our experienced educators encourage language development too, starting with simple sounds and building to sentences.
Toddlers have the freedom to explore rooms and resources, while progressing social skills and peer relationships with group activities and large-scale floor-based games.
Outdoor playtime sees toddlers enjoying the large garden, where they can explore the bug hotel, and mud kitchen or curl up in our outside reading nook.
With growing confidence and ability, we prepare our preschool children for the learning journey ahead with a focus on phonics, numbers, technology and social skills. We’ll also work with you to help your child with toilet training, giving them lots of support and encouragement along the way.
Children spend their final year at Hemsley House enjoying free-flow access between a playroom, canopied patio, art room and all-weather playground. We liaise with local schools to make sure their transition is a smooth and happy one. By the time they move on, they have made firm friendships and have experienced our learning environments in full throughout the year. They leave us as independent, curious and confident learners, ready for the next chapter of their own story.
Amidst all that learning, there’s plenty of time for play with games, creative activities and outdoor fun.
If children prefer some time away from the hustle and bustle, our quiet area is equipped with reading books and spaces to complete homework.
Whether it’s breakfast to start the day or a hearty meal after school, all of our nutritious food is freshly prepared daily.
